Guidepoint provides turn-by-turn directions...to the police!

A true story....

On the afternoon of Monday, October 18, a Guidepoint member Gregory W. discovered his 2008 Chevrolet HHR had been stolen right from his driveway. Gregory notified the police to report the theft immediately. The next call he made was to the Guidepoint Response center, where expert stolen-vehicle recovery specialist Barbara Luscomb answered.

Activating communications with the HHR’s Guidepoint unit, Barbara immediately located Gregory’s vehicle. She then contacted 911 to request dispatch to the vehicle. Once officers were in pursuit, the 911 operator connected them to Barbara, who directed the officers with a turn-by-turn report of the vehicle’s every move.

After nearly 20 minutes of tracking the racing vehicle through the streets of the city, it came to a halt at a downtown gas station. Like a scene out of a Hollywood blockbuster, officers roared into the station. With weapons drawn, they surrounded the vehicle and its three suspects, and screamed at them to get on the ground. Officers arrested the three men on the spot.

Thanks to Gregory’s decision to install a Guidepoint unit in his HHR, and the quick action by the Guidepoint representative, Gregory’s vehicle was recovered intact and the thieves were arrested -- all in less than an hour!
